The Ford Fusion Is Fun, Versatile, and Efficient

The Ford Fusion is a great sedan choice for Virginia drivers who want technology, style, and efficiency. The Fusion's midsize designation means that you get the fuel efficiency of a smaller vehicle along with the interior space and cargo room of a larger one. The Ford Fusion also comes in an incredible number of configurations, thanks to multiple trim levels and drivetrains. In addition to the regular gas engine and hybrid powertrain, there is also the Fusion Energi, which is an EV and perfect for your daily commute. The Fusion also offers the latest technology, such as SYNC 3, FordPass, Pre-Collision Assist featuring Pedestrian Detection, and more. When you factor in the sharp handling, upscale cabin, and choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive and you have a vehicle that drivers love.

What's New on the 2019 Ford Fusion?

The base S comes with blind-spot monitoring, automatic headlights, a rearview camera, a CD player, audio and voice commands, forward collision mitigation, 16-inch steel wheels, cruise control, and more. The SE gains rear heat ducts, power-adjustable front seats, satellite radio, exterior keypad entry, and 17-inch wheels. The SEL provides an 11-speaker premium sound system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, LED headlights, driver-seat memory settings, remote ignition, and more. Drivers who choose the Titanium will receive ambient interior lighting, 19-inch wheels, a sunroof, heated and ventilated sport front seats, and LED fog lights. The top trim - the V6 Sport - comes with heated and ventilated front seats, a rear spoiler, leather and simulated suede upholstery, quad exhaust tips, and more. In addition to these features, several packages can be added to the Fusion as well.

The Short but Exciting History of the Ford Fusion

The Ford Fusion hasn't been around for too long, just over a decade, but it has already made a name for itself. The 2006 Fusion began with the choice of a 160 or 220 horsepower engine, front-wheel drive, and a manual or automatic transmission. All models had keyless entry, power accessories, air conditioning, and a CD player with options that included traction control, anti-lock brakes, side curtain airbags, leather seats, a 6-CD changer, heated seats, automatic headlights, and auto-dimming mirrors. The 2007 Fusion got side-curtain and front-side airbags as standard. It also added the options of navigation, all-wheel drive, and satellite radio.

Tire pressure monitoring and anti-lock brakes became standard in 2008. This year also saw new options such as SYNC, keypad entry, and a Sport Appearance Package. Traction control became standard in 2009. The 2010 Fusion was significantly updated both inside and out. Then, a new Fusion Sport arrived, the engine lineup got more powerful, and new advanced safety became available. The 2013 Fusion brought in a complete redesign, bringing the sedan more similar to the current model.
