2012 GMC ACADIA EXTERIOR & INTERIOR
The exterior of the GMC Acadia is aggressive and wide, giving it a powerful signature feel. The Acadia is available in five trims: the base SL, SLE, SLT-1, SLT-2 and top-of-the-line Denali. You may not want to be hauling more than 5,200 pounds or doing serious off-roading in the Acadia, but the standard 18-inch painted aluminum wheels won't disappoint for everyday driving, with upgrades to 19-inch machined-aluminum and 20-inch alloy wheels optional. Chrome tips on door handles and the exhaust pipe are shiny, sexy additions to the exterior that give it a classy touch. For aerodynamic purposes, a subtle-but-sleek rear spoiler is equipped standard on all models, as are roof-mounted luggage rack side rails.
Inside, the available space is the Acadia's biggest selling point. The Acadia blends the aggressiveness of the exterior with the elegance and sophistication of the interior. The eight-seater trims (standard on SL and optional on all other models) comfortably seat eight adults, no small feat for an SUV of its size. Models above the SL boast roomy seven-person seating, with the second row sporting captain's chairs instead of a bench row. The second and third row bench seats fold down, opening up the interior to 117 available cubic feet, ideal for families with a lot of cargo. The standard color scheme is an attractive two-tone design with chrome accents, but the Denali comes with leather trim and mahogany accents. A sunroof and rear entertainment system are optional, and all interior equipment is top-of-the-line. A touch-screen DVD-based navigation system is another useful upgrade and includes a rearview camera. As far as music connectivity is concerned, all GMC Acadias are equipped with at least six speakers with optional Surround Sound and Bose speakers available on SLT-1s and up. All Acadias also have an MP3-compatible CD player and are SiriusXM Satellite Radio-ready. Step up to at least the SLT-1 and you get access to other options, such as the entertainment system with MP3 playback.
